A usable French or English
For the English track, an intermediate level around B1 or B2 is recommended so you can follow discussion and write your own notes. Translation technique itself is taught from the first module.
Admissions
The next school year starts on 27 August.
You can begin with no prior experience in translation. The institute looks for a working level in the European language you will use, regular attendance, and a willingness to revise your drafts.
What we ask of an applicant
No prior translation course
The program is written for people starting from scratch. You do not need a previous diploma in translation, linguistics or literature.
Attendance and deadlines
Progress depends on being in class and sending assignments. Deadlines can flex, and instructors help students who fall behind, on site or at a distance.
Feedback, both ways
You will comment on other students’ drafts and receive comments on yours. A quiet place to write, and ordinary computer skills, are enough for the homework.
Travel and housing
For the in-person year in Muscat, the institute covers round-trip airfare and provides a furnished student apartment in the Qurum district, close to the training centre. Guided visits, including the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and Muttrah Souq, are part of the stay. Details of daily life are on the Muscat page.
How a file moves forward
- Write to Al.ufsur@gmail.com with your name, the language pair you want (Arabic–French or Arabic–English), and a few lines on your current level.
- The institute places you in the linguistic diagnostic: a short set of lessons and a quiz.
- You see the academic pathway that matches that level, then complete the simplified pre-application.
